Intelerad acquires cloud imaging leader Ambra Health

Ambra Health is now a part of Intelerad’s family of companies, capping off a year of acquisitions designed to enhance medical image management offerings and further the goal of making a difference in healthcare.

With an award-winning PACS system, robust cloud vendor-neutral archive (VNA), image exchange functionality, and research and pathology capabilities, the consensus is that Ambra’s contributions are the perfect complement to Intelerad’s portfolio.

“It’s true of all our acquisitions but this one really feels like the ultimate chocolate and peanut butter combo, two great things that are even better together,” says Mike Lipps, CEO of Intelerad.

“Partnering with Ambra is a significant milestone on our path to provide the most scalable and robust medical image management platform in the industry,” Lipps added. “And while many medical imaging vendors offer pieces of what providers need, Intelerad now offers the entire solution.”

Morris Panner, who was CEO of Ambra for almost a decade and will now serve as President of Intelerad, says the excitement is shared by customers and the industry, if the number of enthusiastic messages he received about the news is any indication.

“This represents something we have been working towards for years—we are standing on the shoulders of giants,” Panner said.

“Ambra has been focused on ensuring large hospital systems, medical groups, imaging centers, clinical research organizations, and health information exchanges can rely on us to significantly improve processes and workflows in the circle of care,” Panner said. “This commitment is strengthened by joining Intelerad, and we look forward to further enhancing our products and services together.”

Intelerad now manages more than 50 billion images, reads over 130 million exams per year, and serves nearly 2,000 customers, including all of the top 10 U.S. Best Hospitals from the U.S. News & World Report annual list.

Ambra joins Insignia Medical Systems, Heart Imaging Technologies (HeartIT), LUMEDX, and Digisonics—all acquired over the past 11 months. Radius was acquired in August 2020.
