In its third acquisition of 2021, Intelerad is extending its reach across the pond to partner with Insignia Medical Systems, a pioneering enterprise medical imaging provider in the United Kingdom.
This deal signals an important step in expanding next-generation imaging software to help modernize everything from small departments to large multi-site National Health Service (NHS) Trusts across the UK.
“We are excited to work alongside Insignia as we collectively aim to further provide UK hospitals with the solutions they need to improve key clinical outcomes,” said Intelerad CEO Mike Lipps.
As Intelerad continues to grow, Lipps said, the focus remains on providing software solutions that seamlessly manage medical images, workflows, and data, and ultimately impact patient care for the better.
In July 2021, Intelerad announced the acquisition of Heart Imaging Technologies. LUMEDX joined the Intelerad family of companies in February 2021.
Headquartered in Basingstoke, Hampshire, Insignia has been providing high-quality imaging solutions that have helped improve outcomes for patients in the UK for nearly two decades. With Intelerad’s backing and resources, Insignia will look to expand its footprint and rapidly respond to the changing needs of the UK’s healthcare sector.
“Since our founding, our team has not only delivered innovative technology to our customers, but also a high level of expertise and customer care. Having been dedicated to the UK since day one, we pride ourselves on meeting the unique needs of hospitals and health systems based here,” said Richard Dormer, Insignia Managing Director and co-founder with fellow health IT veteran Arron Edwards. “Joining forces with Intelerad equips us with even greater opportunities to offer best in class resources and technologies to our healthcare customers.”
With over three billion images and growing, Insignia manages some of the largest and most complex picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) and vendor neutral archive systems (VNA) currently deployed in the UK.

Healthcare is being increasingly driven by digital transformation, and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) have become the backbone of efficiency in modern radiology.
Enterprise imaging is a strategy that unifies the management, access, and sharing of medical images across departments, sites, and systems.
Even the smallest workflow inefficiencies can add up, increasing workload on providers and reducing the time they have available to see patients.
