  • 2014-10-07 - Intelerad Launches New Assignment Engine Module

New module automates case assignment across the enterprise and prioritizes cases within radiologists’ worklists

Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – October 8, 2014 – Intelerad Medical Systems™, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced the launch of their Assignment Engine module, which automatically assigns pending cases from across the enterprise to the most suitable radiologist, and prioritizes the cases within the radiologist's own dynamic worklist.

“Intelerad’s Assignment Engine is a game-changing module that optimizes imaging operations by automating case assignment and prioritization,” said Frederic Lachmann, Vice President of Clinical Decision Support, Intelerad. “By eliminating the amount of time and guesswork involved with these complex tasks, enterprises are able to experience tremendous gains in terms of both efficiency and patient care.”

Designed to optimize efficiency and radiologist utilization, the Assignment Engine adds cases to worklists using a number of real-time variables that are set by the organization, including reader availability, subspecialty, workload, location, the relative amount of time and effort required to read the exam, and more. In doing so, the module raises patient care levels by distributing exams to the most qualified radiologist.

Ideal for large hospitals, multi-facility imaging providers and teleradiology enterprises, the Assignment Engine’s automated case assignment functionality creates balanced caseloads across the enterprise. In addition to driving the enterprise’s productivity, this provides insight into staffing needs while helping them meet service-level agreements and internal benchmarks for key metrics.

For radiologists, leveraging the module’s automated worklist prioritization functionality eliminates the time they need between cases to evaluate their caseload and determine which case should be read next. This drives productivity by eliminating the amount of downtime that radiologists spend between cases, thus allowing them to evaluate more studies per shift and deliver patient diagnostics in less time.

Intelerad’s Assignment Engine is an optional module that will be available for IntelePACS and InteleOne. For more information, visit rsna.intelerad.com

  • 2013-11-21 - Intelerad Partners with Blackford Analysis to Automate Multi-Study Image Comparisons

Intelerad Partners with Blackford Analysis to Automate Multi-Study Image Comparisons
Blackford’s advanced registration technology to be integrated with InteleViewer to facilitate the comparison of current and prior studies

Montreal, Canada & Edinburgh, UK – November 20, 2013 – Intelerad Medical Systems™, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced a technology partnership with Blackford Analysis, a provider of software products that accelerate comparison of medical images. The partnership will see Intelerad incorporate Blackford Analysis technology into its InteleViewer™ diagnostic imaging viewer.

Seamlessly integrated into InteleViewer, the Blackford Analysis’ Blackford MatchedCrosshairs and Blackford AutoSync functionality will enable InteleViewer users to provide instant comparisons of current and prior studies with a single click.

Blackford MatchedCrosshairs will enhance InteleViewer to allow users to simply click once on a location in any scan to instantly find the same location in multiple scans from different timepoints and/or different modalities (CT, MRI or PET).

Blackford AutoSync will provide InteleViewer with the ability to perform slice synchronization across multiple exams automatically, regardless of differences in acquisition protocol and patient positioning.  This eliminates the often tedious step of manually syncing studies with multiple priors.

“Radiologists are facing increasing numbers of images per study, high volumes of daily exams, and short turnaround times for issuing final reports, making it more and more challenging to meet productivity requirements while maintaining diagnostic accuracy,” said Dr. Ben Panter, CEO, Blackford Analysis. “We are delighted to be working with Intelerad to enhance their excellent InteleViewer product. Blackford Analysis products provide a time-saving of 20% or better when comparing studies, giving radiologists more time for interpretation and activities that improve the quality of patient care.”

“Integrating Blackford solutions into InteleViewer is tremendously beneficial to our end users,” said Rick Rubin, Chief Engineering Officer, Intelerad. "Not only does this make a previously tedious and time consuming task of searching for the point of comparison in prior exams simple, quick and painless, but when combined with aggregating technologies like InteleOne® and our Master Patient Index, patient care is dramatically improved with a fully longitudinal comparison of a patient's exams without a large time penalty."

Intelerad will be showcasing InteleViewer with integrated Blackford Analysis software at RSNA 2013. To request a demo, please visit http://rsna.intelerad.com

Blackford Analysis will be showing its full range of capabilities at RSNA 2013. Visit the company at booth 8507 in the North Hall, or book a meeting at http://www.blackfordanalysis.com/rsna/.

Toronto-based group will develop solutions that provide key data and analytics to radiology staff

Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – June 7, 2013 – Intelerad Medical Systems™, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced the formation of a new Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Group. The Toronto-based group is made up of developers who will focus on adding evidence-based decision support and data mining features to Intelerad’s solution portfolio.

“With dozens, even hundreds, of radiologists using a single Intelerad system across distributed networks and geographies, there are significant opportunities to adaptively optimize productivity and utilization,” said Rick Rubin, Intelerad’s Chief Engineering Officer. “Our CDS group will address our clients’ challenges by developing technology that provides decision support, automation and transparency to the processes used to manage radiology services in large-scale organizations.”

As part of their mandate, Intelerad’s CDS Group will develop solutions that not only benefit radiologists, but all medical imaging professionals:

For radiologists, the CDS Group will work on the integration of intelligent worklists to optimally balance reading demand with reading capabilities across the enterprise. They will also work on decision support tools that leverage report data mining to improve patient outcomes, compliance, and reimbursements while reducing litigation risk.

For support staff (department managers, PACS admins, quality managers, etc.), the CDS Group will work on the development of real-time dashboards, data visualization and analytics to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Prior to deploying Intelerad’s solutions, Radiology Associates had numerous growth opportunities, but was unable to capitalize due to the infrastructure they had in place. According to CEO Tim Barrett, the group is confident that they will be able to grow the business and increase efficiency by leveraging InteleOne’s ability to consolidate information from disparate PACS and create unified worklists.

"As a radiology group serving numerous medical centers, Radiology Associates L.L.C. of Baton Rouge needed a solution to help increase their efficiency and grow their business,” said Randall Oka, President and CEO, Intelerad. "By deploying IntelePACS and InteleOne, they will have a solid infrastructure that will allow them to succeed in a complex, distributed environment and reach their goals.”

Intelerad’s InteleOne solution streamlines medical imaging workflows from disparate PACS, HIS and RIS into a unified reading solution, with one common viewer and worklist, providing seamless access to all studies, including priors, regardless of location. • 2012-11-24 - Radiology Business Journal to Unveil the Radiology 100 at RSNA

Radiology Business Journal to Unveil the Radiology 100 at RSNA
Sponsored by Intelerad, list recognizes the United States’ 100 Largest Private Radiology Practices

Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – November 24, 2012 – Intelerad Medical Systems™, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, will host the unveiling of the Radiology Business Journal's list of the 100 largest radiology practices. The list will be presented at this year’s RSNA 2012, which takes place November 25-30 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The presentation will take place at Intelerad®’s RSNA booth on Sunday, November 25 at 11 a.m. The Intelerad booth is #4814, which is located in Hall A of the event center’s South Building.

"This year marks a milestone in our annual ranking of the nation's largest private practices," says Curtis Kauffman-Pickelle, Radiology Business Journal publisher and CEO of imagingBiz. "Readers will find it to be our most complete and accurate list yet, expanded this year to 100 practices. We're calling them the Radiology 100."

The list is based on the results of a survey that is distributed to private radiology practices. While the ranking is solely based on the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) radiologists, the survey also gathers data to provide insight into the state of the industry, such as the number imaging centers owned by each practice, number of median procedures performed, number of FTE employees and number of median hospital contracts.

"For the first time, size became an undisputed factor in the practice's ability to succeed in the marketplace in 2012," says Cheryl Proval, editor of Radiology Business Journal. "This was suggested by multiple indicators. We also saw evidence of an increasingly competitive market, with hospital contracts down in all size categories except the very largest."

“We are quite proud not only to be sponsoring RBJ’s Radiology 100, but to also have a number of customers included in this list,” said Randall Oka, President and CEO, Intelerad. “Since our inception, we have specialized in building radiology solutions for complex distributed environments and it is gratifying to see them leveraged by North America’s leading private practices.”

Following the presentation of the Radiology 100, representatives from the organizations on the list are invited to pick up their award at Intelerad’s booth (#4814). For more information, please visit http://www.intelerad.com/rsna2012/#rbj_top_100.

  • 2012-11-13 - Nuance and Intelerad Partner to Bring Voice-Enabled Radiology Reporting to Community Hospitals and Imaging Centers

Nuance and Intelerad Partner to Bring Voice-Enabled Radiology Reporting to Community Hospitals and Imaging Centers

Speech Recognition Considered a New Service Standard to Help Radiologists Decrease Report Turnaround Time

BURLINGTON, Mass., and DENVER, Co., November 13, 2012 – Today, Nuance Communications, Inc. and Intelerad Medical Systems™ announced a reseller agreement by which Intelerad® will now offer the benefits of Nuance’s proven voice-enabled radiology offering, Powerscribe 360 | Reporting, alongside their medical imaging solutions.  According to recent findings, incorporating speech recognition into a radiologists’ workflow is a new service benchmark that can significantly decrease report turnaround times and improve services to referring physicians.

Community hospitals and imaging centers face the same pressures as large hospitals for fast, efficient and accurate reporting of patient results, but with more limited IT resources.  Nuance’s voice-enabled radiology reporting helps address these industry challenges by creating higher-quality documentation and exam interpretations, while improving report turnaround times.  This reseller partnership will enable Intelerad’s more than 1,000 imaging center and community hospital customer sites to deploy speech recognition in an effort to establish best practices for reading and reporting patient imaging results.

“Nuance is the market leader in voice-enabled radiology reporting,” said Randall Oka, chief executive officer, Intelerad.  “This partnership will benefit imaging centers and community hospitals by identifying ways to streamline workflow and improve productivity.  We’re excited about the competitive advantage this partnership presents for our customers.”

Through this partnership, Intelerad customers can now take advantage of the same speech technology that is already used to create nearly half of all radiology exams in the U.S.  By leveraging Nuance’s PowerScribe 360 platform together with Intelerad’s solutions, radiologists can take a smarter, faster approach to reporting.  Intelerad’s solutions include the #1 ranked ambulatory PACS by KLAS five years in a row – IntelePACS®, InteleRIS, InteleOne® and the recently launched Flow Enterprise Diagnostics Solution.

“Today, radiologists face unprecedented scrutiny and competition so technology is often times a factor that differentiates practices,” said Janet Dillione, executive vice president and general manager, Nuance Healthcare.  “We are excited to partner with Intelerad because of the important role it plays in the medical imaging market.  Together, we’ll build upon our shared commitment to arm radiologists with the tools they need to adjust to changing workplace dynamics.”

The solution also allows emergency room physicians to access all of their patient information, even when images are not yet available, and receive real-time updates. To enact custom views, the solution also provides clinicians with effective presets for windows-leveling and multiple viewports so a number of images can be seen in the same viewer.

Intelerad’s InteleOne Solution Receives High Marks from KLAS

Pioneering enterprise workflow solution given an overall grade of A-

Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – October 23, 2012 – Intelerad® Medical Systems, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced that their InteleOne® solution has received an overall grade of A- in the KLAS research report InteleOne: A KLAS Innovation Review. The report was written by KLAS analysts, with the findings based on a comprehensive series of interviews conducted with InteleOne customers.

“We are quite pleased with the high marks that InteleOne received from KLAS,” said Randall Oka, President and CEO, Intelerad. “InteleOne’s original goal was to improve radiology practices’ efficiency by streamlining medical imaging workflows from disparate PACS, HIS, RIS, and EMRs into a unified reading solution. As this KLAS report clearly demonstrates, InteleOne’s features and benefits have helped us achieve that goal and provide a solid ROI for our customers.”

Amongst the key findings in the report, InteleOne customers reported improvements in efficiency and workflow, with over 70% seeing a good or excellent ROI. Furthermore, over 60% of customers have seen improved customer relationships. In terms of integration, KLAS validated that InteleOne currently interfaces with 36 different PACS, RIS and EMR solutions.

On October 12, Ben Brown, General Manager for Medical Equipment & Imaging Informatics (PACS) at KLAS Enterprises, presented the results of the report at Intelerad’s InteleOne Visionary Forum, a strategic user group event that gathered key InteleOne customers in Montreal, Canada. As part of his presentation, Brown recognized InteleOne as a pioneering technology that is sought by radiologists and practices who are looking to solve workflow issues related to disparate image management systems. He also noted that Intelerad is the only company they are aware of with enough live clients for an early measurement worth sharing.

“For years customers have recognized Intelerad as an industry leader in the ambulatory PACS market. Early adopters are also recognizing Intelerad for its development of InteleOne with optimism,” said Ben Brown of KLAS. “While IT interfacing expertise is one of the technical keys to success with InteleOne, radiology groups are touting that this interoperable enterprise imaging workflow platform is increasing productivity, improving patient care, client relationships and creating opportunities to grow their business.”

The KLAS report, InteleOne: A KLAS Innovation Review, can be obtained via Intelerad’s InteleOne microsite at www.intelerad.com/inteleone.

Intelerad releases new version of InteleConnect

Referring physician portal features enhanced communications functionality, increased flexibility for referrers and a free iOS app

Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – September 20, 2012 – Intelerad® Medical Systems, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced the release of InteleConnect™ 4.4.1, a new version of their industry-leading referring physician portal.

Recognized for its intuitive navigation and functionality, InteleConnect 4.4.1 delivers high-quality medical imaging reports and images, with enhanced communication and self-service functionality to improve efficiency.

“InteleConnect is a zero-footprint clinical portal that facilitates instant patient-centric collaboration between radiologists and referring physicians, which is something that was requested by a number of our customers,” said Rick Rubin, Chief Engineering Officer, Intelerad. “With InteleConnect 4.4.1, referring physicians’ user experience will be greatly enhanced, allowing them to access information faster and deliver better service to patients.”

Key features in InteleConnect 4.4.1 include:

    • On-refer, which allows referring physicians to see who dictated the original case and easily refer specific cases to a specialist.

    • Break-glass functionality, which provides clinicians with self-service access to restricted patient results (with audited access), which alleviates the administrative burden of adjusting permissions to allow a physician to access a file.

    • A free iOS app that will be available in Apple’s iTunes® App Store, which streamlines the user experience by providing physicians with instant notifications regarding pending cases on their iPhone®, iPad® or iPod Touch®.

    • Instant messaging for consultations, built directly in the solution.

    • Real-time confirmations that physicians have viewed the radiology results.

    • The ability to display multiple levels of critical results, pending critical results and results acknowledgements to ensure that physicians have all of the information they need.

As with previous versions, InteleConnect is compatible with any web browser, provides optional audio reports, patient search, timely email notifications for critical results, and status updates of ordered requisitions. The solution also offers premium placement of a company name and logo, so a radiology group’s brand can be recognized and associated with quality results. Additionally, the portal provides the ability for radiology groups to advertise events or post group messages to referrers.

“We’re quite excited about the continued evolution of InteleConnect,” said Rubin. “As with all of our releases, we spoke at length with our customers to deliver a product that meets their needs. In this case, our goal was to improve the way physicians and radiologists work, both independently and collaboratively, and I’m confident in saying that this solution will meet that goal.”

Secure and easy to manage, InteleConnect is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and all other industry standards. For more information about InteleConnect, including case studies, please visit www.intelerad.com/en/P142-inteleconnect.html.
