2012-11-28 - Radiology Associates L.L.C. select Intelerad Solutions to Grow Business and Improve EfficiencyRadiology Associates L.L.C. select Intelerad Solutions to Grow Business and Improve Efficiency
Baton Rouge-based radiology group seeing results just six weeks after going live with IntelePACS® and InteleOne®
Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – November 28, 2012 – Intelerad Medical Systems™, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced that Radiology Associates, L.L.C., based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, have selected Intelerad®’s IntelePACS® and InteleOne® solutions to help grow their business and improve their efficiency.
“The decision to deploy IntelePACS and InteleOne was primarily based on the solutions’ functionality, as well as Intelerad®’s reputation for customer service and the strong references provided by existing customers,” said Brandon St. Amant, Chief, Department of Radiology, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. “We went live on October 1, and in that short time we have already seen improvements in efficiency that will position us well for growth.”
Founded in 1960, Radiology Associates is one of the largest private radiology groups in Baton Rouge. With 22 radiologists on staff, the hospital-based group services the greater Baton Rouge metropolitan area and reads approximately 250,000 studies per year. The main facilities they service include Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Interventional Radiology Clinic, Woman's Hospital Main Campus, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Lake Imaging Center.
Prior to deploying Intelerad’s solutions, Radiology Associates had numerous growth opportunities, but was unable to capitalize due to the infrastructure they had in place. According to CEO Tim Barrett, the group is confident that they will be able to grow the business and increase efficiency by leveraging InteleOne’s ability to consolidate information from disparate PACS and create unified worklists.
"As a radiology group serving numerous medical centers, Radiology Associates L.L.C. of Baton Rouge needed a solution to help increase their efficiency and grow their business,” said Randall Oka, President and CEO, Intelerad. "By deploying IntelePACS and InteleOne, they will have a solid infrastructure that will allow them to succeed in a complex, distributed environment and reach their goals.”
Intelerad’s InteleOne solution streamlines medical imaging workflows from disparate PACS, HIS and RIS into a unified reading solution, with one common viewer and worklist, providing seamless access to all studies, including priors, regardless of location. 2012-11-24 - Radiology Business Journal to Unveil the Radiology 100 at RSNARadiology Business Journal to Unveil the Radiology 100 at RSNA
Sponsored by Intelerad, list recognizes the United States’ 100 Largest Private Radiology Practices
Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – November 24, 2012 – Intelerad Medical Systems™, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, will host the unveiling of the Radiology Business Journal's list of the 100 largest radiology practices. The list will be presented at this year’s RSNA 2012, which takes place November 25-30 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The presentation will take place at Intelerad®’s RSNA booth on Sunday, November 25 at 11 a.m. The Intelerad booth is #4814, which is located in Hall A of the event center’s South Building.
"This year marks a milestone in our annual ranking of the nation's largest private practices," says Curtis Kauffman-Pickelle, Radiology Business Journal publisher and CEO of imagingBiz. "Readers will find it to be our most complete and accurate list yet, expanded this year to 100 practices. We're calling them the Radiology 100."
The list is based on the results of a survey that is distributed to private radiology practices. While the ranking is solely based on the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) radiologists, the survey also gathers data to provide insight into the state of the industry, such as the number imaging centers owned by each practice, number of median procedures performed, number of FTE employees and number of median hospital contracts.
"For the first time, size became an undisputed factor in the practice's ability to succeed in the marketplace in 2012," says Cheryl Proval, editor of Radiology Business Journal. "This was suggested by multiple indicators. We also saw evidence of an increasingly competitive market, with hospital contracts down in all size categories except the very largest."
“We are quite proud not only to be sponsoring RBJ’s Radiology 100, but to also have a number of customers included in this list,” said Randall Oka, President and CEO, Intelerad. “Since our inception, we have specialized in building radiology solutions for complex distributed environments and it is gratifying to see them leveraged by North America’s leading private practices.”
Following the presentation of the Radiology 100, representatives from the organizations on the list are invited to pick up their award at Intelerad’s booth (#4814). For more information, please visit http://www.intelerad.com/rsna2012/#rbj_top_100.

2012-11-13 - Nuance and Intelerad Partner to Bring Voice-Enabled Radiology Reporting to Community Hospitals and Imaging CentersNuance and Intelerad Partner to Bring Voice-Enabled Radiology Reporting to Community Hospitals and Imaging Centers
Speech Recognition Considered a New Service Standard to Help Radiologists Decrease Report Turnaround Time
BURLINGTON, Mass., and DENVER, Co., November 13, 2012 – Today, Nuance Communications, Inc. and Intelerad Medical Systems™ announced a reseller agreement by which Intelerad® will now offer the benefits of Nuance’s proven voice-enabled radiology offering, Powerscribe 360 | Reporting, alongside their medical imaging solutions. According to recent findings, incorporating speech recognition into a radiologists’ workflow is a new service benchmark that can significantly decrease report turnaround times and improve services to referring physicians.
Community hospitals and imaging centers face the same pressures as large hospitals for fast, efficient and accurate reporting of patient results, but with more limited IT resources. Nuance’s voice-enabled radiology reporting helps address these industry challenges by creating higher-quality documentation and exam interpretations, while improving report turnaround times. This reseller partnership will enable Intelerad’s more than 1,000 imaging center and community hospital customer sites to deploy speech recognition in an effort to establish best practices for reading and reporting patient imaging results.
“Nuance is the market leader in voice-enabled radiology reporting,” said Randall Oka, chief executive officer, Intelerad. “This partnership will benefit imaging centers and community hospitals by identifying ways to streamline workflow and improve productivity. We’re excited about the competitive advantage this partnership presents for our customers.”
Through this partnership, Intelerad customers can now take advantage of the same speech technology that is already used to create nearly half of all radiology exams in the U.S. By leveraging Nuance’s PowerScribe 360 platform together with Intelerad’s solutions, radiologists can take a smarter, faster approach to reporting. Intelerad’s solutions include the #1 ranked ambulatory PACS by KLAS five years in a row – IntelePACS®, InteleRIS™, InteleOne® and the recently launched Flow™ Enterprise Diagnostics Solution.
“Today, radiologists face unprecedented scrutiny and competition so technology is often times a factor that differentiates practices,” said Janet Dillione, executive vice president and general manager, Nuance Healthcare. “We are excited to partner with Intelerad because of the important role it plays in the medical imaging market. Together, we’ll build upon our shared commitment to arm radiologists with the tools they need to adjust to changing workplace dynamics.”

2012-10-25 - Intelerad’s InteleOne Solution Receives High Marks from KLASIntelerad’s InteleOne Solution Receives High Marks from KLAS
Pioneering enterprise workflow solution given an overall grade of A-
Denver, Colorado and Montreal, Canada – October 23, 2012 – Intelerad® Medical Systems, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced that their InteleOne® solution has received an overall grade of A- in the KLAS research report InteleOne: A KLAS Innovation Review. The report was written by KLAS analysts, with the findings based on a comprehensive series of interviews conducted with InteleOne customers.
“We are quite pleased with the high marks that InteleOne received from KLAS,” said Randall Oka, President and CEO, Intelerad. “InteleOne’s original goal was to improve radiology practices’ efficiency by streamlining medical imaging workflows from disparate PACS, HIS, RIS, and EMRs into a unified reading solution. As this KLAS report clearly demonstrates, InteleOne’s features and benefits have helped us achieve that goal and provide a solid ROI for our customers.”
Amongst the key findings in the report, InteleOne customers reported improvements in efficiency and workflow, with over 70% seeing a good or excellent ROI. Furthermore, over 60% of customers have seen improved customer relationships. In terms of integration, KLAS validated that InteleOne currently interfaces with 36 different PACS, RIS and EMR solutions.
On October 12, Ben Brown, General Manager for Medical Equipment & Imaging Informatics (PACS) at KLAS Enterprises, presented the results of the report at Intelerad’s InteleOne Visionary Forum, a strategic user group event that gathered key InteleOne customers in Montreal, Canada. As part of his presentation, Brown recognized InteleOne as a pioneering technology that is sought by radiologists and practices who are looking to solve workflow issues related to disparate image management systems. He also noted that Intelerad is the only company they are aware of with enough live clients for an early measurement worth sharing.
“For years customers have recognized Intelerad as an industry leader in the ambulatory PACS market. Early adopters are also recognizing Intelerad for its development of InteleOne with optimism,” said Ben Brown of KLAS. “While IT interfacing expertise is one of the technical keys to success with InteleOne, radiology groups are touting that this interoperable enterprise imaging workflow platform is increasing productivity, improving patient care, client relationships and creating opportunities to grow their business.”
The KLAS report, InteleOne: A KLAS Innovation Review, can be obtained via Intelerad’s InteleOne microsite at www.intelerad.com/inteleone.

2011-11-29 - Intelerad Promotes Quality with New Full-Featured Peer Review SolutionA peer and image quality-review solution seamlessly embedded into the radiologist reading workflow for hospitals, imaging centers or radiology groups.
Chicago, Illinois - November 29, 2011 - Intelerad® Medical Systems, Intelerad Medical Systems, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced its new embedded Peer Review solution to be demonstrated at the RSNA annual meeting, from November 27 to December 1st in Chicago, Illinois.
Following the example of the American College of Radiologists (ACR), requests to carry out a peer review are presented to radiologists within their regular reading and reporting workflow. Radiologists are requested to conduct a peer review when they open a prior study case that has been flagged for review, or they have the option to complete it at a later point in time from their peer review worklist. Organizations can set peer review quotas per radiologist that pertain to the specialty and qualifications of the radiologist. Complete with a customizable scoring system, Intelerad Peer Review ensures anonymization for radiologists so that reviews can be completed without bias.
"Intelerad's Peer Review helps organizations significantly raise the bar on quality," said Rick Rubin, Chief Engineering Officer. "Our solution is innovative and full-featured. Review discrepancies can be flagged in the system and notifications are dispatched based on severity to enable quick and effective response. Quality-focused organizations can also conduct benchmarking and other important initiatives for superior imaging and results."
The Intelerad Peer Review scores are accessed through a web portal and the solution can be included with Intelerad's IntelePACS®, InteleOne®, or InteleSuite™ products. Intelerad Peer Review can also be integrated into third-party reading environments.
For increased reporting accuracy and time savings, the information in HL7 fields can now be auto-inserted into report templates, eliminating the need for radiologists to re-dictate information in the final report.
"We continue to focus on workflow automation and improving the personalized experience in order to boost radiologist productivity," said Rick Rubin, Intelerad Chief Engineering Officer. "Our goal is to increase radiologists' reading speed and comfort, enabling enhanced productivity and accuracy."
Demonstrations will take place at RSNA 2011: Intelerad booth #4053 Hall, A.

2011-11-28 - Intelerad Extends Multi-Method Reporting for the Radiology MarketNew voice recognition and productivity features include voice-activated commands, auto-insertion of HL7 fields and expanded customization tools
Chicago, Illinois - November 28, 2011 - Intelerad® Medical Systems, a leader in medical imaging PACS, RIS and workflow solutions, today announced new functionality for its Multi-Method Reporting voice recognition module for use with IntelePACS®, InteleOne®, or InteleSuite™. The new features will be demonstrated at the RSNA annual meeting, Nov. 27 to Dec. 2 in Chicago, Illinois.
Embedded in InteleViewer™'s reading and reporting solution, Intelerad®'s Multi-Method Reporting module boosts reading speed and productivity with a powerful voice recognition engine and customizable library of structured report templates.
The enhanced Multi-Method Reporting module offers a flexible new workflow option, enabling radiologists to save in-progress reports for completion later. This "long-term parking" feature retains the draft report in the reading state, allowing the radiologist to move on to other priorities and resume as desired.
Another new productivity feature is the ability to use voice-activated commands and custom-mapped speech microphone buttons, alone or in combination, to call up templates and quickly move through sections of a report. This dramatically improves reporting speed and the user experience.

2011-06-03 - Announcing First Intelerad Multi-Method Reporting Customer Deployments Featuring Embedded Voice Recognition and Structured Report TemplatesRadiologists impressed with workflow efficiency gains and M*Modal's Speech Understanding™ technology
Washington, DC - June 03, 2011 - Intelerad® Medical Systems today announced the availability of its Multi-Method Reporting™ module along with the new IntelePACS® 4.3 release, which provides radiologists seamless access to voice recognition in their reporting workflow. Designed to accommodate the way radiologists naturally read and report studies, Intelerad's Multi-Method Reporting blends dictation, voice recognition and structured report templates together in a single, streamlined interface and workflow.
"We have deployed a limited trial release of the new Multi-method Reporting module to a few customers and the feedback has been very positive", said Rick Rubin, Founder and Chief Engineering Officer of Intelerad. "Radiologists are now free to choose how they report each study, depending on the case and personal preference. The result is faster than ever report turnaround times, as well as improved consistency and quality of the report."
M*Modal's Speech Understanding technology adapts to the physician's workflow and speech patterns, rather than the other way around. Combining advanced speech and natural language understanding technologies, M*Modal's platform goes beyond mainstream speech recognition capabilities because the semantic and syntactic meaning of the dictation is recognized, not just the individual words. Physician intent is recognized and the system adapts to virtually all dialects, accents, speaking styles and dictation habits.
